Kibale National Park
The primate capital of East Africa. Kibale's tall, humid forest has one of the highest densities of primates in Africa. Around 1,500 chimpanzees live here, and tracking a habituated community from Kanyanchu is the park's headline experience.

Thirteen primate species share the forest, including red colobus, black-and-white colobus and L'Hoest's monkey. Just outside the park, the community-run Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a superb walk for birds and monkeys.
Kibale sits among the Fort Portal crater lakes, with lodges overlooking calm green craters and tea estates. It links easily with Queen Elizabeth to the south and the Rwenzoris to the west.
