Semuliki National Park

A slice of the Congo basin rainforest. Semuliki protects lowland forest that is an eastern extension of the great Ituri forest of the Congo basin, so its wildlife feels more Central African than East African.

It is a must for keen birders, with many species hard to find elsewhere in East Africa. The Sempaya hot springs bubble up in the forest, with a boiling "female" spring and a "male" spring reached by boardwalk.

Semuliki is an easy day trip or overnight from Fort Portal and Kibale.

Highlights

  • Sempaya hot springs

  • Semliki Wildlife Reserve nearby
  • Views over the Rwenzoris
